"My role as a therapist is to support and help my patients understand what's happening to them from a psychoneuroimmunological perspective, that is, in a holistic way, understanding how the social context influences the nervous, endocrine, and immune systems and how they relate to each other."

About me

Hello! I'm Ana San Martín and I'm going to tell you how I got here. My first contact with the PNI was when I was about to finish my doctorate. Almost a doctor and... I didn't know what was happening to my body if I "ate well." At that time my whole body hurt, but above all my attention was focused on the pain in my left knee caused by bursitis that had been going on for about 2 years. I had tried
of everything and was desperate to heal.

For me, a person who came from the academic world, it was quite a shock to understand, from the prism of psychoneuroimmunology, based on scientific evidence, the entire context behind that injury.

My eyes were opened to understand how the fact that I simultaneously had a
autoimmune disease, Hashimoto's hypothyroidism, was one of the most obvious factors preventing my bursitis from healing and making my entire body hurt.

I also understood why despite being treated by the doctor with Eutirox and having the “correct” hormone values in the tests, I continued to suffer all the typical symptoms of this autoimmune disease.

At this stage, the need arose for me to train as a therapist to disseminate these
knowledge based on scientific evidence and help other people who want to take an active part in recovering their health.

I have been on this journey for a few years now to help people recover their health in a comprehensive way, taking into account their biopsychosocial context, as well as the microbiota-intestine-axis.
brain.

My work as a therapist consists of accompanying and making my patients understand what happens to them from the perspective of psychoneuroimmunology, that is, in a holistic way, understanding how the social context influences the nervous, endocrine and immune systems and how these are related. each other.

And from this perspective, with order, propose measures to gradually return to recover health and well-being.
